  1. @ Cynic: Hai, na? Since this post, there’s been an update on the Mma.Ramotswe books. Add to this list – “The Company of Cheerful Ladies” and “The Good Husband of Zebra Drive”. The first gets a ten on ten just like all the other books in the series. The second, I’ve yet to read but I’m pukka sure that it’ll live up to its predecessors.

  2. I saw the movie first day first show [Midnight on a working day 😀 ]. I loved it. The director almost did justice to the book, given the time limit on the movie. Must watch for every Potter fan!

    *Possible Spoilers*
The visuals are just breathtaking – #12 Grimauld’s place, room of requirement, ministry of magic, just wow! Luna isn’t as loony as I’d imagined her to be. Cho was disappointing, Tonks and LeStrange were rightly cast.

  3. @ Ginger Girl: Let’s discuss the movie and the book at the end of this month! Actually mail me your number…will call you.

@ Queen Bee: Die-hard Potter fan here. *shake hands* Yup, I love the Weasley twins too! But actually…I quite liked Luna in the movie, though I’ve only seen the pre-release rushes. Let’s see once the movie is out, though.

    @ S: 😀 At least someone does!

@ Rachna: Oh, I did that too…its a refresher course before the movie for me. As for Mma.Ramotswe, I haven’t actually read all of them but I’m going through. Am on ‘The Kalahari Typing school for men’ at the moment.

@ Sense: …as always makes sense. Mail me your number girl, I feel like talking to ya.

  4. hey… about Sirius… They’ve picked his part to perfection… people outside the Uk might not know this, but Gary Oldman- who plays Black in the movie, was the proverbial hell-raiser in his youth, and definitely has the rep to play black to the hilt… that’s why opinions on him differ so vastly here and elsewhere.

  5. Hey… yes, I too read the Alexander McCall series about a year back- and loved them. I esp love the secretary- and her shoes 🙂
And I am actually rereading the whole HP series just so that I am primed for July 21.
As far as the movie versions go- I haven’t seen ANY of them, because I feel they ALL fall so short of the books, and never get across as well. Being a HUGE Potter addict, I just can’t take it.

As for matrimony obsessed relatives- Do I know……….. I was in the same miserable situation for the last 4 years. So I can completely empathize. Its pretty sad- or at least in my case it was.

  6. I am waiting for
    1. the promised Harry Potter series
    2.Mma. Ramotse to begin with…

    I take Ideasmith’s recos seriously, yes I do 🙂

  7. Finally someone is talking about Harry Potter, Thank you. I seem to be surrounded with HP haters.

I think one of the two key character that dies is Neville. She always has the tendency to kill the most lovable of characters from the previous book (Black and Dumbledore). [Remember how Neville turned out to be this smart and useful wizard in book #6?]

I loved the fact that she chose Ginny Weasley as Harry’s significant other because of the funny Weasley moments the brothers bring into the romance. [I’d give up if there was only romance without some warnings, fights, etc.] Having said that, I don’t think I want to know if Harry does “it” in his 7th year or if Hermione and Ron get together. [I’ve been reading way too much fan fiction, he he.]

I am biased against the movie versions of any books, except LOTR, so I am going to refrain from talking about the disappointments from the movies.

  8. FIRST OF ALL –
lol. :)) I am sooo in agreement with you on your last line.
Hahahahahah – “matrimony obsessed family members” ..hahahahaha

Secondly – Harry Potter and the gang.
Yep – Sirius and Lupin were such a disappointment in the movies.
Sirius is supposed to be a once-upon-a-time dashing, handsome and sexy man with a heart of steel and a careless arrogant smile (the smile that gets you fluttering).
The guy in the movie cannot even dream of coming close)

And Lupin? – What a disaster! Damn!

Snape – Oops..but I loved this snape. Suited the role perfectly – evil, ugly , greasy Bas*&^%. I so hate him ! and I hate the guy in the movie too. So that means he is a good snape, aint it?

Charlie and Bill – hmmm I wish they were on-screen more often. Both are visual delights – aint them?

Did you see the girl who is to be Loony? Bah! She doesnt look even half as crazy as she should…. The makeupmen or whoever is the guy responsible for characterisation has miserably ignored the whole loony look to luna

and I recently was told that Ralph F plays Voldemort.
I was shocked. (yeah am a lil behind the time)…

I hope Harry does not die…that will kill!
