I’ll be a mother someday, I said
He said, You’ll need a man for that.
I replied,
I didn’t say I wanted to be pregnant.
I said I wanted to be a mother.
You don’t need anybody but a child for that.
Update: 22 Sep 2023 – I wrote this post when I was much younger and knew far less about gender and feminism. I listened to this podcast today and I feel proud of younger me for that clarity on motherhood, even if I didn’t have words to express it.
@ aparna: Thengyu!
@ rambler: I didn’t quite get that. I’d guess every child needs both a mother and a father. In the context of my post women have been playing both roles in some cases for far longer than men have now.
LMAO.. congrats on moving XX to its home 🙂
That child could be him as well
I like muchly the template to the old blog. This one is nice, too.
I so agree with that. Have had that thought for long. People, always, only see what they wanna see. 🙂
lol cool! i even agree on that! 😀
hmm do you think the child you need to become a mother, needs a father?
