Being online at the same time is the virtual world’s equivalent of being in the same room with someone else. It’s a lot easier to pretend you haven’t seen them, though. How else can an escapist be?
Oh and shutting your eyes is much easier as well…you just logout/ disconnect/log off/shut down. Then, for all purposes, the world you don’t want to be a part of has been destroyed…at least momentarily.
